Good to know
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use Brugdag: with a mouse, a keyboard or a screen reader, on a large or a small screen. Here's what we do for that.
Our standard
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, the standard behind the European Accessibility Act (EN 301 549). We test with the keyboard, at 320 pixels wide, at 200% zoom and with automated checks.
What we do
Every page has a clear structure with headings, a link to skip to the content and a visible focus. In the calendar every working day is a button with a full name ("Friday 7 May, day of leave"), so a screen reader doesn't just read a number. Colour is never the only sign: days of leave are circled, school holidays underlined. Light and dark both have enough contrast.
Reading comfort
With the button with the little figure at the top of every page you choose larger text, more space between lines and letters, a readable font, more contrast, underlined links, less motion or a reading guide. Your choice is kept on your device.
What isn't perfect yet
The year calendar is long for a screen reader: 365 days. The list "Your bridges" above the calendar says the same in a few sentences. In a private window, or if your browser blocks storage, the planner only works during that visit.
