Public holidays and bridge days in Belgium
Make the bridge. More days off with the same leave.
Brugdag lays Belgium's public holidays next to your working week and finds the days of leave that give you the longest stretches off. You see at once how many days you gain, add them to your calendar and share your plan.

Plan your own yearThe leave puzzle
Every year the same puzzle.
How it goes now
- You look up which day Ascension falls on this year, and whether 1 May is a Saturday.
- You put the school calendar next to it, which is no longer the same in Flanders and Wallonia.
- You work out on a beer mat which Friday gives you the most.
- And in November you notice you still have nine days of leave left.
With Brugdag
- The public holidays are already there, worked out for every year, with what happens when one falls on a weekend.
- You choose your own week: full-time, four-fifths, or weekends too.
- Brugdag finds the days of leave that give you the longest stretches off, and you adjust what you like.
- One click and your bridges are in your calendar, one link and your partner sees them too.
What Brugdag does
All your leave on one page.
Holidays, worked out
The ten legal public holidays for every year, with Easter, Ascension and Whitsun calculated. Community holidays and sector days you tick yourself.
Your working week
Full-time, four-fifths with your fixed day off, or a Wednesday-to-Sunday week: Brugdag counts with the days you work.
School holidays
The Flemish or the French-speaking school calendar next to your plan, from the official source. Plan your leave inside it, or just outside.
In your calendar
Download your bridges as a calendar file (.ics) for Google, Outlook, Apple or Proton. Each bridge is one event over the whole stretch.
Share your plan
One link with your whole plan, for your partner, a colleague or yourself on another device. No account.
Nothing on a server
Your plan stays in your browser. The share link puts everything after the # sign, and a browser never sends that part of a link to a server.
How it works
Three steps to a year full of bridges.
- 01
Say how much leave you have
The number of days of leave you still want to spend, and the days you work.
- 02
Choose what you want
Many long weekends, as many days as possible, or a few long holidays. Inside or outside the school holidays, if you like.
- 03
Adjust and take it with you
Tap a day to add it or take it away. Put your bridges in your calendar or share the link.

What people ask us
Your question isn't here? Read how Brugdag calculates, or look at the public and school holidays.
Is Brugdag free?
Yes. No ads, no account, no paid version of the planner. Brugdag is nealvdv's own project.
Which days does Brugdag count as off?
The ten legal public holidays and the days you don't work. Community holidays (11 July, 27 September, 15 November) and days only some sectors give (2 November, 15 November, 26 December) you tick yourself if you get them.
I work part-time, or at weekends too.
Choose the days you work in the planner. Brugdag then only counts those days as days of leave and treats your other days as off.
What if a holiday falls on a Sunday?
Then you're entitled to a replacement day. Your sector or your employer sets it; if nothing has been agreed, it is the next normal working day. Brugdag shows which holidays these are, but doesn't plan the replacement day itself.
Are the school holidays right?
They come from the official calendars of the Flemish and the French Community, with the date we checked them. The German-speaking Community isn't in yet: for that we link to its own site.
Where is my plan kept?
In the browser on your device. Nothing goes to a server. If you share your plan, everything is in the link itself, after the # sign.

Five minutes, and you know when you're off next year.
